Who we help

Picture
Our welfare work continues to expand and diversify as the welfare needs of the population evolve. The current number of potential beneficiaries for our Poppy Support services is estimated at 9.5 million. The mission of The Royal British Legion is to reach out to the 500,000 who we believe are in the greatest need.

During the last few years, the Legion has introduced new services and extended the reach of existing ones. We spend over £1.2 million a week on our welfare work and as a result, we can help around 100,000 people each year. Here in Thailand we have a dedicated welfare team spread throughout the country to help the many Ex Service personnel and their Dependants who have retired in Thailand.
Listed below are some of the things the Legion may be able to help you with, if you feel you need help or are unsure please use the contact us form below, it will go direct to our Welfare Chairman  and remain "IN Confidence".

Can we help you?

If you've served in the Forces for at least seven days, or are the Dependant of someone who has served, The Royal British Legion's extensive range of services is available to help you.

Around 9.5 million people in the UK are eligible for our support and we spend nearly £1.4 million a week helping those in the greatest need.

Need help with compensation? We can help you claim a War Disablement Pension or a War Widow(er) Pension, and can give free representation at War Pensions appeal tribunal hearings.

Bereaved and needing support? We can help you through an inquest and compensation claim and put you in touch with experts who can provide emotional support.

Worried about money? If you're struggling to make ends meet, we can help you to manage your debts, claim benefits and deal with unexpected expenses.

Need a hand around the house? We provide a free dedicated handyperson service for those unable to carry out small repairs and minor alterations in their homes.

Need to get away from it all? If you need a break, visit one of our four Break Centres, located in some of the country's most popular seaside resorts. We can also treat your children to an activity break.

Returning to civilian life? If you're having trouble finding work our Civvy Street website can give you information and advice on jobs, skills and self-employment.

Do you live abroad? The Legion has 96 branches outside the UK, so if you live abroad you might still be able to access some of our support services.

Looking for a home with care? We provide short and long-term care for ex-Service people and their dependants in  our seven care homes around the country.

Are you wounded, injured or sick? We can help you take a holiday or claim benefits, and the Personnel Recovery Centres and Battle Back Centre will provide recovery facilities for serving personnel.

Are you leaving Service? We can help you with education and retraining, as well as navigating the benefits and tax credits system in order to ensure that you get the help you're entitled to.
